Highest Paying College Degrees and Schools

We all have heard someone say that they did fine even without a college degree. But for every person that can actually say that and mean it, there are many others that did well because they have a college degree. In fact if you have a college degree, on average, you will earn twice as much as someone without a degree. If you have a graduate degree, on average, you will earn eight times as much as someone without a college degree. When discussing career planning & selection, it can sometimes make the difference between a good life and a great life.

So there is financial incentive to staying in school. But even with this advise, not all college graduates will earn this level of income. Certain career paths will outperform others. So career planning is an absolute key component to earning the higher income levels. Before selecting a college and packing your bags, first let's do a reality check on your passion and see if there is a career path that aligns with your passions. At College Funding Solutions our clients have full access to a Career Planning online system .... call for more information.

COLLEGE SAVINGS GUIDELINES

This is always a tough one because the cost of college between public & private is so different, compounded by the rising cost of education. The 529 Plans are a great way to save for college, but there are other options as well. The key is to save money for college and not using your 401k or home equity as the college plan (These are both for the parents future). Click on the link below for an article from Fidelity on College Savings Guidelines, but the most important take away from this entry is to save!!!!

When it comes time to begin the actual college planning process (i.e. Freshmen, Sophomore or Junior in High School) I can help in a big way. We have a great process but also ways to re-position your invests so that you get the lowest EFC (Expected Family Contribution for your child's college education) possible.

SAT or ACT or Both?

When it comes time to take the SAT or ACT always be prepared. You should have taken a sample test and prepared for the big day. The key as to which test to take is based upon your individual style of test taking. The test are very different in the scoring methodology. My recommendation is take both, but be prepared. Keep in mind you can take the test more than once and I encourage you to take the test more than once and use the best score. These test scores are a key component in getting into the best college at the lowest possible cost. So prepare, prepare, prepare!!!

As part of our College Graduate program we offer at no additional cost the Peterson on line test prep, this may not be the only source for you but look it as another way to improve your score.

Will My New College Degree Help Me Find (Fund) My Dreams?

Picking a college major is critical for many reasons. First and foremost the major should reflect your goals and aspirations in life. So once you think you have that figured out then (hopefully in the High School Years) then it will guide you in your college selection. Our clients get access to the Discovery Career Planning Program as part of the College Graduate Program. This is an excellent tool to help advise/guide your career selection and once again it should be aligned with your goals. Now this may sound easy but it does take time and research to see what fits your character and personality. My advice is start early. By the time your student has complete their Freshman year in High School a career path should be identified, it may change and the Discovery Program is ideal for helping find the solution. For more information on The College Graduate Program please call me at 800-816-0232.
